Catenae on Steins
Filed under pretty pictures, asteroids, asteroid 2867 Steins, Rosetta and Philae
Rosetta visited asteroid 2867 Steins on September 5, 2008. Its images showed Steins to have the shape of a brilliant-cut diamond. Its south pole has been blasted away by an impact making a crater 2.1 kilometers in diameter. Radial to the crater is a chain or "catena" of seven craters and a noticeable groove on the opposite side of Steins.
