Nine separate raw Cassini images of Dione make up this mosaic, captured during the May 1, 2012 encounter from about 9,000 kilometers away.

To produce this mosaic, the center frame was used as a reference, and the others resized, rotated, and occasionally skewed to make features match up, because of Cassini's shifting point of view.
