This Curiosity MAHLI image is a "focus-merge stack" made by summing all of the in-focus parts of several MAHLI images of an outcrop with different focal depths. It reveals a fascinating rock texture in an outcrop of material associated with Whale Rock. The entire field of view is about 4 centimeters wide; the light-colored grains in the rock are roughly 300 microns across. Curiosity took the photos on January 7, 2015.
