Inside the Rille
Filed under pretty pictures, amateur image processing, the Moon, Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter
At the top, a section of Hadley Rille on the Moon near the Apollo 15 landing site, as seen by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter on August 5, 2012. The rille is about a kilometer-and-a-half wide. At the bottom, part of the same scene seen at nearly the full resolution of the orbiter's powerful camera, allowing us to see individual boulders.
