The orbit of asteroid 2012 DA14 from nearly edge on to Earth's orbit, The very close approach (closer than geosynchronous satellites) on Feb. 15, 2013 occurs where the orbits cross on the right side of the image. Note the asteroid's orbit (in blue) is inclined 10 degrees to Earth’s orbit (image created using the JPL small body database browser) .
