My Sky

We’re looking for images you’ve taken of your sky—whether those images are of galaxies captured through a telescope or perhaps pictures of an incredible night sky, an eclipse, a star party, or a rocket launch. We can’t guarantee that we’ll publish every image and story—but we will look at each and every one and will showcase as many as possible here on our website and a few might make it to our magazine, The Planetary Report. We look forward to seeing your Sky.

As I have grown, that interest has evolved into a more enlightened appreciation for real science and the promise that it shows for the future. Although my field of study and my career will most likely never result in me being on the frontline of scientific discovery, I do hope that I can ... more »

Spent hours watching STAR TREK and other cool sci-fi/fantasy Shows like Battle Star Galactica and Babylon 5. Wanted to learn to fly so I joined the United States, Air Force, where for the first time, went up in a Cessna Air Craft and almost lost my cookies. So much for Space Flight.

Space Camp

by Zoe Reinartz

December 27, 2018

Three… Two… One… Liftoff! We have liftoff! We cheered. It was the summer of 2018 and I was at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville Alabama for a week of Space Camp. We had spent all morning in a flight simulation and, after a hearty lunch, had traipsed down to the “Launchpad” where we were to launch the model rockets we had constructed. The object was to launch and return the rocket while the egg placed in the nosecone, conveniently standing in for an astronaut, had to remain intact.

The rockets soared through the air the parachutes opening like ... more »
