If want to demonstrate your support for planetary exploration -- and you're planning to be in the Washington, D.C. area next Tuesday, November 15, 2011 -- please consider adding your presence to the congressional hearing on "Exploring Mars and Beyond: What's Next for U.S. Planetary Science?"

The U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology will be meeting in room 2318 of the Rayburn House Office Building from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The witnesses will be:

  • Jim Green, Planetary Science Division Director, Science Mission Directorate, National Aeronautics and Space Administration;
  • Steve Squyres, Chair, Committee on the Planetary Science Decadal Survey, National Academies of Science;
  • Additional witnesses may be arranged.

This is a chance to show U.S. congressmen and their staffs that there is tremendous popular support for sending explorers -- whether robotic or human -- to other worlds. By showing up for the hearing, you can drive that message home.

Hope you can make it!
