NASA and Planetary Science Budget Advocacy Update

Go Back

The Planetary Society is busy during this year's spring budget season in the United States. Casey Dreier, the Director of Advocacy for The Planetary Society, provides a quick rundown on what we've accomplished so far.

Help build our exciting advocacy program by donating here.

Kent Williams: 04/19/2014 01:02 CDT

Hello Casey!! A suggestion: Print up 5000 of those Space Advocate posters on some premium paper, number them, and then sell them for $25 or $30 each as a fundraising effort. (I'm not a science genius, but 5000 x $25 = US$125,000.) I bet you'll sell them all, and people will proudly display them. I'd love to have one. Keep up the good work. Space Is the Place!!Regards, Kent

Approach an influential "celebity" for backdoor lobby. Maybe Clintons daughter......or bush's nephew

Raymond Williams: 04/19/2014 02:20 CDT

Keep up the good work I hope for our children they will be able to explore the new frontier I cherish each day as it was my last I am getting closer to the end of my journey(77+) but will never stop looking to the heavens till the Good Lord willing I will be among them

Zach Couch: 04/19/2014 02:39 CDT

Dear President Obama. My name is Zach Couch. My children need something to look forward to when they are older. A mission to Europa is just what they need. Please do not cut but increase the funding to Nasa. As Neil Degrass Tyson once said "We are made of the universe and it made us to discover it's self. Only these increases will allow that to happen.

i rather contribute ideas rather than funds

Ingrid Royce: 04/20/2014 11:04 CDT

Hi Casey, I left my video on the NASA site and never received a reply. I have the most utmost respect for the astronomy community and wanted someone to explain to me what I saw with my naked eye. I took this video holding up my Droid phone while I was watching the moon do strange things. Please click into the 2.3 minute mark to see the moon starting to change. Thank you. Ingrid (Inakika is my Hawaiian name)

Casey Dreier: 04/28/2014 02:31 CDT

Kent: we're working on a poster version of the Space Advocate sticker. I wish I shared your optimistic sales projections, but I'd love to be proven wrong :) I'll make a special post once the poster is up for sale.

Casey Dreier: 04/28/2014 02:32 CDT

Bruce: Ideas are crucial, but so are the funds to make sure those ideas get heard by the right people.

Casey Dreier: 04/28/2014 02:34 CDT

Ingrid: most likely that's an issue with the camera's optics through a window, but it's hard to say exactly.

Casey Dreier: 04/28/2014 02:34 CDT

Raymond: Thank you for the touching note.
