The best image of comet 1P/Halley taken by the TVS camera onboard the Soviet Vega 2 spacecraft was taken on 9 March 1986 at 7:19:58 from a distance of 8,030 kilometers.

Image has contrast enhanced to show subtle details and was resampled to 100 m/pix resolution (original resolution was 120×160 m/pix).
