We’re looking for images you’ve taken of your sky—whether those images are of galaxies captured through a telescope or perhaps pictures of an incredible night sky, an eclipse, a star party, or a rocket launch. We can’t guarantee that we’ll publish every image and story—but we will look at each and every one and will showcase as many as possible here on our website and a few might make it to our magazine, The Planetary Report. We look forward to seeing your Sky.

The history of space exploration has been accelerating ever since Galileo developed his first telescope, pointed it toward the stars some four centuries ago, and published his findings in a small book titled Sidereus Nuncius, "The Starry Messenger”. Since then, new and ever-improving technology was invented, and enormously creative astronomers, astrophysicists and space scientists have learned and made exciting discoveries about our vast surroundings and the extraordinary place in which we live—space. While some devote important time to observe, learn, discover and understand those things in our comfort zone—the air we breathe here on Earth, the water we drink, the ... more »

There is nothing quite like a rocket launch. The anticipation builds with the first arrivals, waiting in line from late afternoon into the evening, sun scorching, humidity suffocating. Hundreds, eventually more than 2500 people came from across the United State, from around the world to witness a dance between technology, gravity, and the stars. The possibility of catastrophe and success feel equally balanced, a tug-o-war that no one can fully predict. Only after the vehicle and one-off payloads are far away from the launch pad, is there a sense of growing comfort to override fear. In a time when the ... more »

Hey!! I'm just a Canadian hip-hop cat trying to make a difference. Bill Nye has always been an inspiration to my everyday efforts to do the right thing. My mother has an animal rescue business and my father was a big inspiration to me in my musical efforts. He passed away from cancer in 2016 and since then I've felt a yearning to be a part of something bigger. I work as a welder in a vehicle assembly plant near Toronto, Ontario. Seems ironic my job is probably one of the main contributors to climate change and yet here I ... more »
