Phew!

What a morning! I'm delighted that New Horizons is safely on its way. The next event will be a press conference at 4 pm Eastern time, which is about an hour from now. I'm going to go get some lunch, rest my fingers, and return for that.

I thought I'd share a picture of where I have been this morning, updating this blog. This is in the conference room of The Planetary Society, just downstairs from where we had been operating Cosmos 1. I am sitting just inches from the TV because the room was totally full of all the Society's staff waiting and watching for the launch; whenever there were announcements I had to lean forward and put my ear against the speaker to hear clearly. I'm still doing that now as they wind down their coverage while another meeting is going on in here. Life goes on...
