Former JPL Director Bruce Murray on the Persistence and Importance of Water Ice

In 1961, Post-Doctoral Fellow Bruce Murray proposed that water ice could persist for millions or even billions of years if cold enough. He went on to lead the Jet Propulsion Lab and co-found The Planetary Society. Dr. Murray returns to Planetary Radio to look back at that discovery and its legacy that runs through last week's LCROSS mission. He is joined by his former student, Bruce Betts. Bill Nye says space and politics are not so strange bedfellows. Emily Lakdawalla says gas giants are not really so gassy, and Bruce Betts stays with Mat Kaplan for What's Up and a new space trivia contest.
