Our conversation with JPL scientist Steve Ostro continues as we learn about the proposed budget cuts that may end research at the two greatest radar astronomy instruments on Earth, Arecibo and Goldstone. The great dish at Arecibo could be entirely shut down not long after. We also hear from Sally Ride Science about how to spin molten glass to make mirrors for a huge optical telescope. Bruce Betts and Mat Kaplan welcome the new year with a new space trivia contest and a replay of the first Mars Exploration Rover landing exactly three years ago.
