Submitting a Proposal


The information below is for the 2006 round of Shoemaker Near Earth Object Grants. The winners of this round of grants were announced on March 7, 2007. Please stay tuned to this website for updated information for the next round.

Please be sure to read the 2006 Shoemaker NEO Grant Call for Proposals before submitting your proposal.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: October 18, 2006

Proposals may be submitted by e-mail or regular mail.

To submit your proposal by e-mail, please send it as a Microsoft Word, Rich Text, or Adobe PDF document to tps@planetary.org with "Shoemaker NEO Grant" in the Subject line.  Please provide your contact information in the body of the email.

To submit your proposal by regular mail, you may either mail in a CD-ROM containing your proposal as a Microsoft Word, Rich Text, or Adobe PDF document, or print and mail nine (9) complete copies of all application materials to:

Your proposal should include the following information.

Project Description: In no more than 1,500 words, describe the proposed project as completely as possible. Please clearly state the level of funding necessary for the proposed project.  Grant sizes are typically $3,000 to $10,000.  Your proposal should contain the following statement: "If I am awarded a Shoemaker NEO Grant, I understand that I am obligated to provide short updates (a few paragraphs) on my progress as often as every six months for at least the first two years of the award."

Supporting Documents (optional): You may also attach documents (e.g. published papers, MPCs) in support of your application.
