October 3 - Chicago, Illinois - On the first Friday of every month, the Adler Planetarium hosts an evening of astronomy-related fun, including observing, lectures, demonstrations, and tours of the Doane Observatory.

October 4 – Los Angeles, California - Bring your teenage girl to the Sally Ride Science Festival at the NASA Ames Research Center on March 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The festival features an inspiring talk by a featured speaker; Discovery Workshops for girls, given by local scientists, and engineers; workshops for parents and teachers on ways to support students' interests in science and math; and a Street Fair with hands-on activities, booths, food, and music.
