Go Back

Planetfest 2012 is a two-day celebration on August 4 and 5 at the Pasadena Convention Center. We'll showcase the people, science, and engineering behind real Mars exploration. The event culminates on Sunday night with live data of the Curiosity rover landing on the Red Planet. Just opened the email and watched the You Tube video, looks as though a fun occasion. Suggest you check the sound sync with the video, it is badly delayed....out of sync when viewed from the U.K.

Due to my age (98) and poor condition, I will not be able to come to Florida. Very sorry.

I worked on the Voyager I & II and my friends Mike and Mickey were on the Viking Orbiter and Lander Design Teams. We are excited to join you all and trade war stories.

I attended Planetfest 1981 as a Planetary Society essay winner for an essay "Why Explore the Planets?". The occasion was the Voyager II encounter with Saturn. I got to meet Carl Sagan, Lou Friedman, Bruce Murray, and the then NASA administrator Admiral Dick Truly, all at Caltech and JPL. This event made a huge impression on me when I was 18. I went on to pursue 3 degrees in engineering, two in aerospace. I hope Planetfest 2012 is eventful and inspires more young people as much as it did me. I won't attend, but hope to attend virtually. Go Planetfest ! Bruce Powers Norfolk VA

Great to see Mr. Picardo on the video...It brings a smile and a lot of StarTrek memories.

Bruce I also attended P/F1981 It was a great time. Ray Bradbury,Carl Sagan,Gene Roddenberry,Bruce Murry among others that were there. It was held in conjunction with the JPL open house and voyager 2 Saturn encounter I remember all of the staff went to a news conference at JPL and left Gene to entertain the guests his stories about star trek were priceless . The biggest buffoon was REP.Udall his statement was "space has been there for billions of years what is the hurry" I just thought I would share this with the group been a member since the beginning and enjoyed the program today. thanks all for the support Bill bills999us@yahoo.com
