Before & After: Pleiades in and out of infrared
Filed under amateur image processing, WISE, stars and galaxies
Drag the green slider across the image to compare "before" and "after" states.
Seen in visible light (in a small windowed overlay from the Digitized Sky Survey), the Pleiades appear relatively isolated. To the infrared vision of WISE, they are enveloped within an expansive shroud of dust.
