Colorful Sander and Munch craters in the Caloris basin, Mercury Sander and Munch are complex craters located within Mercury's Caloris basin. The floor of Sander crater is covered with bright hollows, while Munch crater has a dark rim. Outside the crater, the floor of Caloris is cracked into polygon shapes. The photo was taken as a high-resolution targeted observation during MESSENGER's second mission extension on April 26, 2014. At full size it has a resolution of 290 meters per pixel. MESSENGER's color camera has lower resolution than its monochrome narrow-angle camera.
