This flyover animation of dunes in Herschel Crater was created using image and digital terrain model data from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The camera is traveling at 100 meters per hour.

Adrian Lark creates these animations using a 3D engine that he wrote himself that actually generates the fly-throughs in real-time, just like in a video game.
