Development of the 2018 dust storm over Gale crater, sols 1997-2085
Curiosity regularly takes pictures of the distant northern crater rim as a way to assess how much dust is in the low-altitude air. Sol 1997 shows the view on a relatively clear day. As the Mars year 34 dust storm developed, Curiosity's view of the rim vanished into dust.
