Spirit tracks near McCool Hill

Spirit took this Pancam mosaic of its tracks where it was was about to climb McCool Hill to find a winter haven, until the right front wheel slipped, thus forcing the rover to retrace its steps and find another place to spend the winter. The terrain was imaged in the afternoon on sol 930 (August 15, 2006) and in midday on sol 935 (August 20, 2006). Use the slider to see the changing illumination conditions on the scene.
