Earth on July 29, 2014 The Suomi NPP satellite orbits Earth 14 times a day, building up a global view of the rapidly changing planet. This image is composed of data taken at red, green, and blue wavelengths by Suomi NPP's Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), so represents Earth in approximately true color.


Daily images of this type can be downloaded from the NOAA Imagery Portal. The fullest resolution of downloadable data is 750 meters per pixel.
