Make Comet Balls!
Use a styrofoam ball, glue, glitter, and anything else
your imagination can come up with to make a fancy comet. Kids, have your
parents or adult help you.
Materials:
- 1" - 1.5"
styrofoam balls
- Glitter Glue (Elmers is fine)
- Small bowls (margarine tubs work well) to sprinkle glitter and hold glue.
- Straight pins
- Metallic excelsior strips ( 4 per comet)
- Metallic pipe cleaner (cut to make 4 per pipe cleaner)
- Ziplock sandwich bags
- Sharpie permanent marker
- Foam 1" paint brushes
Instructions:
- Take the pipe cleaners and cut them into four equal sections.
- Take the excelsior and pre-make the comet tails by lining up 4 strips
of excelsior and poking the straight pin through the end.
- Bend the piece of metallic pipe cleaner into a "U" shape and
pole it into the ball.
- Hold the ball by the pipe cleaner "holder" and paint the glue
over entire ball.
- Hold over bowl and sprinkle glitter
- Insert comet tail by poking the straight pin deeply into ball.
- Put your name on ziplock bag with permanent marker and insert finished
comet.
