My Sky

We’re looking for images you’ve taken of your sky—whether those images are of galaxies captured through a telescope or perhaps pictures of an incredible night sky, an eclipse, a star party, or a rocket launch. We can’t guarantee that we’ll publish every image and story—but we will look at each and every one and will showcase as many as possible here on our website and a few might make it to our magazine, The Planetary Report. We look forward to seeing your Sky.

Boldly Going

by Geoff Richardson

How a 7-year old boy fell in love with the cosmos...

I can never forget the early morning in mid-October, when my father woke me up at 2am to watch as the Titan IV rocket, carrying the Cassini-Huygens mission, launched from Florida towards its ultimate destination: the sixth planet in our solar system, Saturn. I never took much interest in things related to space prior to this, ... more »

We need the opportunity

by David Sweetman

Space settlement is mandatory for human survival.

I remember seeing Spudnik; then on to Verne, Wells, Asimov, Clark, Heinlein, Dickson, van Vogt, etc. SF shows many ways. I watched Armstrong and Aldrin with my great uncle, who was 26 for Kitty Hawk. The last 40 years have been wasted compared to kitty Hawk to Apollo. As the greatest republic in history, the USA must take the leadership in settling the solar system and beyond. I may be disabled physically, but I can still dream and hope!

One Mans Hope For the Future of Humanity

by Reid Warren

December 27, 2018

I am a simple Social Studies teacher with a passion and optimism for eventual human space exploration and discovery. When I was young, I was interested in science fiction and future of mankind that included the discovery of other worlds and intelligent life beyond our planetary borders. As I have grown, that interest has evolved into a more enlightened appreciation for real science and the promise that it shows for the future. Although my field of study and my career will most likely never result in me being on the frontline of scientific discovery, I do hope that I can ... more »
