Rejoining after a long lapse
October 7, 2014
I first saw Carl Sagan in the late 70s at the University of Toronto's Bronowski Lecture, and again later at some seminars after the Viking Mars mission. Then in the 80s "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage" inspired me to join TPS. I always looked forward to every issue of The Planetary Report, and (of course) I eventually wound up running SETI@home on my PC... Due to various circumstances my membership lapsed, and somehow renewal slipped my mind. Watching "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" has reminded me to rejoin, at a time when astronomical technology and science is better and more exciting than ever. I am happy to be back, and look forward to what TPS will accomplish in the 21st century.
An asteroid or comet headed for Earth is the only large-scale natural disaster we can prevent. Working together to fund our Shoemaker NEO Grants for astronomers, we can help save the world.
