Finding other intelligent life ...

L. J. Strom

December 6, 2013

I hope I live to see the day when we find other intelligent life in the universe. I don't expect it would necessarily evolve the way we did along physical lines, but I really want to know how similar or different such life would be in a psychological sense. How would non-terrestrial life think and feel? What would their culture be like? Do evolutionary processes - survival of the fittest and most fertile, competition vs. cooperation, individual vs. group - naturally lead to creatures like us, or is there room for a broad range of psychological variation? Oh, the things we could learn ...
