1960's Radio Show on WICC

Dave Hubbard

December 10, 2012

Every Sunday night in the 60s when I was a kid growing up in Bridgeport and Fairfield Connecticut, I listend to WICC AM 600. I believe it was their meteorologist, Walt Davanis, who had a weekly show on Astronomy. I listened religiously. I remember him describing the locations of objects using the 'fist' method. Jupiter would be '3 fists' above the horizon'. Bridgeport had, and has, a great science museum complete with planetarium. It had a nice projector, a Zeiss as I recall. May have been a Mark II at the time. And we were regulars up there on Park Ave.
