the team expect all
doors to open that narrowly or more/less?
02:02 hendric : finally some UMSF ppl show up. :)
02:03 ugordan : It's tough to participate here and watch Euro

02:08 hendric : EPIC WIN!
02:08 hendric : :)
02:08 ugordan : I prefer www.apolloarchive.com for HQ imagery
02:09 hendric : Well, the point is that if it was faked, why bother with
not high quality imagery?
And why not stop after Apollo 11 for that matter? Moonies are such
nutcases.
02:09 ugordan : They're not even worth this discussion.
02:09 sysboy : Ahhh, so no pictures of swimmers :( 02:10 hendric
: Any Phoenix questions?
02:10 AdrianusV : QUESTION:what can we expect of MECA?
02:10 hendric : Question: Has the Phoenix team noticed any changes
out on the plains?
02:10 BoulderRocketScientist : QUESTION: Given the small sample that
eventually makes it
into the TEGA, how does the team deal with possible inhomogeneities
... i.e., getting an
unrepresentatively large amount of some mineral because that's all
that made it into the oven?
02:10 hendric : AV: It's already in the queue, she's answering them in

02:18 hendric : There are 4 questions currently in the queue btw
02:18 BigBobUK : QUESTION: Do they intend to dig deep? I know they
can, but having found
ice now, will a deep dig be necessary?
02:19 AdrianusV : QUESTION: what causes those anomalies, like the sol
22 anomaly? Are they
just software bugs?
02:20 hendric : AV: I sent it in, but any project like this is a monster
SW develoment project.
02:20 hendric : Sometimes the interfaces between parts of software isn't
clear, or tested 100%.
NASA is good about testing these, but 100% perfection comes with a
cost, $$$.
02:22 wilberfan : QUESTION: Is Anahita walking yet? When will she
be invited to co-host the
webcast?
02:22 wilberfan : ;)
02:24 AdrianusV : OK, but the anomalies can also be caused by mechanical
problems, isn't it?
02:24 BigBobUK : QUESTION: What is meant by safe mode? How safe is it
when Phoenix
does that?

02:31 BigBobUK : QUESTION: Genesis is the only mission you list as being

02:39 BigBobUK : QUESTION: Any chance of a mission to Phobos, maybe for
a lander?
02:39 dragonsyoung : ah that would be kool
02:39 hendric : Question: Any plans for science instruments on COSMOS
2?
02:39 wilberfan : QUESTION: Which of all the missions you're covering
do you find the most
exciting at this point?
02:39 Jakel : deimos gets no love...
02:39 ugordan : Phobos-Grunt?
02:40 hendric : Deimos is too far from Mars. Phobos is close enough
that there is real Martian
dust on it.
02:41 ridingwrobots : forgive me if you've covered this already, but
how is planning for the
apophis mission going?
02:41 ugordan : there is no planning for that

02:42 hendric : Put QUESTION in front of questions for Emily.
02:43 hendric : QUESTION: How far could Cosmos 2 reach? How long could
it last?

panels.
02:44 Jakel : sword of damoclese
02:44 shac : wow you just made me sad
02:44 BigBobUK : :(

02:46 MrTanaka : QUESTION: what's the likelihood we'll find something
usefull, to the point
we could mine/otherwise exploit it?
02:46 MrTanaka : in space in general I should say\
02:46 hendric : MrT: Mining is only worthwhile for local use.
Mining diamonds would probably still not be cost effective.
02:47 MrTanaka : well not diamonds
02:47 MrTanaka : but stuff we donot have currently in any abundance
02:47 hendric : Energy could possibly be worthwhile, solar power stations
beaming to earth are
being seriously looked at by the Japanese.
02:48 MrTanaka : ya I mean anything we have on earth it wouldn't be worthwhile
02:48 ugordan : QUESTION: Any news on Hayabusa's return to Earth?
