I just checked the Stardust@home site and confirmed that it is up and ready for action. The site has been having some trouble handling the heavy traffic this morning, so if you can't get in right away, just try again.
Any interested person (with internet access) can become a volunteer dust hunter -- helping the Stardust team to search for microscopic dust grains from other stars. The grains are so small, and so few, that the task of searching would be incredibly challenging if the science team were left to do it alone. With the help of volunteers, finding -- and confirming -- the telltale tracks of interstellar dust will happen much faster.
So, if you want to participate, go to the Stardust@home site, and look under "Get Started" on the left side of the page. If you already have a username and password, you can click on "login" and begin searching. If you are not yet registered, follow the four steps listed under "Get Started".
Learn more about the Stardust@home project, interstellar dust, and the Stardust mission.
