There appears to have been a press conference on March 7 about Hayabusa. As in the past, science journalist Shin-ya Matsuura blogged the event (in Japanese), and a collaborative translation project produced a version of Matsuura's blog entry in English. There are some further details about the current condition of the spacecraft that can be gleaned from this report. But I was most taken by a question and answer from the very end of the press conference:

Mainichi Shimbun Press: In December, you have told us that it's like 'Asking a seriously ill person to go to the post and send out a mail'. Now, did Hayabusa become able to go to the post?

Kawaguchi: It's even more seriously ill. However, it might be coming along with walking sticks.
Poor Hayabusa!
