Members

The Planetary Society is a community of people like you – in 125 countries around the world – who are passionate about space exploration.

We are explorers of the solar system, seeking other worlds and searching for extraterrestrial life. We make new ventures in exploration happen, from Mars exploration, to solar sailing, to SETI projects in both hemispheres, to detecting near earth objects, to searching for planets beyond our solar system, to helping unravel the mysteries of the Pioneer Anomaly, to saving a mission to Pluto.

Carl Sagan, Bruce Murray and Louis Friedman founded The Planetary Society in 1980 with the mission we continue today: to inspire the people of Earth – through education, research and public participation – to explore other worlds and seek other life.

We don’t take government money. We rely on donations from our Members and from other far-sighted private supporters. So, we advocate independently and effectively. We shape space exploration.

We are astronauts, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, parents, and grandparents, corporate and foundation leaders, engineers, planetarium, museum, and science directors, policy makers, and space enthusiasts – YOU.
